Congress moved a breach of privilege notice on Wednesday against Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Minister of State for Home Tusharkanti Behera alleging that both misled the Assembly in connection with the probe into the murder of minister Naba Das.

Congress Legislature Party leader Narasingha Mishra said that court-monitored probe is not a judicial order. In a notice to the Assembly, Mishra stated that the House has been misled over the appointment of former High Court Judge Justice JP Das for monitoring the investigation into the high profile murder case.

“The ministers have deliberately misled the House by giving false information and it should be probed under a privilege committee. Both CM and Minister of State for Home should seek apology for misleading the House,” said Narasingha.

Meanwhile, Speaker Bikram Keshari Arukha said the notice moved by Mishra is being analysed.

Leader of Opposition Jayanarayan Mishra said the government is hiding many facts in connection with Naba Das murder case.

“The Chief Minister has not given proper information to the House in Naba Das murder case. There is lots of confusion in the statement,” said Mishra.

However, as per the ruling BJD, Narasingha should seek apology first for disrespecting the order of the Chief Justice of the High Court.

“Narasingha has disrespected the order of the Chief Justice of the High Court which is not at all accepted. First he should seek apology before the House and the people of Odisha,” said BJD leader Arun Sahoo.
