Some unknown miscreants allegedly vandalised the office of MLA Suresh Routray’s son Sidharth Routray who has recently joined Congress.

The miscreants broke liquor bottles in front of the gate and tore the posters too.

As per reports, Sidharth had recently set up an office at Nimapara in Puri from where he is aspiring to contest the Assembly elections this year.

“I do not know who have done it. But it has been done on purpose. My banners have been torn and set on fire. There are liquor bottles and stones thrown into my office. They even tried to break open the door, but failed,” said Sidharth.

“My office at Nimapara is just a few metres away from the police quarters. Who would possess so much power to do this in front of the police if not Biju Janata Dal (BJD)?” he said.

In February 2023, senior Congress leader and Jatni MLA Suresh Routray had made a surprise announcement about his retirement from electoral politics and said he would not contest elections in the future.

He made sure that his two sons—Sidharth Routray and Manmath Routray would contest elections instead, from Nimapara and Jatni respectively on Congress ticket.

In an exclusive interview with OTV, Sidharth, a well-known mountaineer, had confirmed that he will contest elections this time. His father, Suresh Routray had said his sons will fight elections independently if they do not get tickets from Congress.
