Miscreants wearing t-shirts with ‘5T’ printed on them allegedly threatened to attack members of the Congress while the latter were protesting Odisha 5T secretary's visit to Jajpur on Tuesday.

As per the allegations, the miscreants wearing white 5T t-shirts and bamboo sticks in their hands charged towards the Congress members threatening to attack them with the sticks.

While the identity of the miscreants is yet to be ascertained, the Congress has alleged that the attackers were members of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD).

“The ruling party has resorted to gundagiri as they neither have trust in the police force nor is the police in their control. If they will attack us with sticks, we won’t have any other option than retaliating,” said senior Congress leader, Sharat Rout.

The Congress on Tuesday staged protest against the 5T secretary’s visit to Vyasanagar in Jajpur. Wearing black sarees, the party’s women workers under the leadership of state Congress leader Bandita Parida took out a rally from Gopabandhu Square. As they reached Chorda Square while giving slogans against the 5T Secretary, the police tried to stop them and a scuffle between the women workers and the police ensued.

It is pertinent to mention here that Congress leader and Kantabanji MLA Santosh Singh Saluja had threatened to attack 5T Secretary VK Pandian with eggs and ink at every public meeting the government official would attend.
