The Congress party has levelled serious allegations against Odisha Minister Mukesh Mahaling, accusing him of forgery in obtaining his caste certificate.
At a press conference, Congress leaders on Monday alleged that Minister Mukesh Mahaling fraudulently secured a Scheduled Caste (SC) certificate in 2002, despite belonging to a different community.

The Congress party further alleged that before obtaining the SC certificate, Mahaling had used false documents during his school and college education as well as in securing employment. Congress has demanded an immediate investigation into the matter and urged the Speaker to disqualify him from his legislative position.
“The sub-caste, which Mukesh Mahaling belongs to, was included with a Presidential order in 2002. From where did Mahaling obtain the caste certificate during his school, college, and employment tenure? We are demanding immediate action and his removal as Minister,” said AICC Member, Abhisekh Mahanand.
Additionally, the opposition party has called for criminal proceedings against Mahaling, citing the alleged falsification of official documents. Despite these serious accusations, Minister Mukesh Mahaling has refused to comment on the matter.
The controversy has stirred significant political debate, with Congress pushing for strict action while the ruling party is yet to issue an official statement.
The Congress party has vowed to continue its legal and political battle to ensure that appropriate action is taken against the BJP Minister.
