The Commissionerate Police seems to be back in action mode. After a brief gap, a massive checking and blocking drive was launched in the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar on Saturday night. Around 100 vehicles have been seized over alleged violations of various traffic rules, reports said.

Twin City Police Commissioner, Sanjeeb Panda informed that the initiative was as part of the ' Safe City Drive' and checking and blocking was conducted at 26 prominent locations in Bhubaneswar.

Senior officials of 24 police stations and 2 traffic police stations carried out the special drive late on Saturday.

"The focus is being given on unidentified vehicles, drunken driving, suspicious and other anti-social elements," said Panda.

Through blocking, the Commissionerate Police checked various vehicles at prominent locations including Omfed chhak, Nandankanan chhak, and other parts of the city.

In Cuttack also similar drive was conducted at various police station levels.

Several vehicles have also been detained as the drivers were found driving under the influence of alcohol. Necessary action would be taken against such drivers as per law, said Commissionerate Police officials.
