Commissionerate Police is on high alert and has imposed strict patrolling across Bhubaneswar ahead of Republic Day celebrations on January 26. The police have intensified blocking and checking operations in almost every nook and corner of the capital city to ensure foolproof security measures are in place.
The police are conducting thorough checks, and keeping a close watch on individuals exhibiting suspicious behavior. During the intensified inspection, several vehicles belonging to youths were reportedly seized for drunk driving.
Why Did The Commissionerate Police Implement Such Strict Regulations?
According to reports, the Commissionerate police are conducting blocking and checking operations at every entry and exit point, as well as within the city, throughout the night. The police have established checkpoints along various lanes and roads.
The primary objective of this initiative is to apprehend any individuals entering the city with malicious intent and to curb the smuggling of illegal intoxicating substances. Additionally, this effort aims to halt other illegal activities, such as driving under the influence.
Meanwhile, Bhubaneswar's DCP was seen during the blocking and checking operations to ensure active participation in the enforcement efforts. The DCP's presence aimed to guarantee that no laws were violated and that police personnel were performing their duties effectively, as per sources.
What Did Bhubaneswar DCP Say In This Regard?
Pinak Mishra, Bhubaneswar DCP said, “Following the instructions of Chief Minister Mohan Majhi and the Director General of Police (DGP), we have been directed to enhance security for the upcoming Republic Day celebrations and other events. We initiated this special blocking and checking procedure to minimise criminal activities in the city, particularly during nighttime, while prioritising the safety of our citizens.”
“We have implemented a special initiative to intensify patrolling based on the instructions of Odisha CM Mohan Majhi, where senior police officials will supervise the checking, blocking, and law enforcement activities. With this initiative, we aim to keep all police personnel on high alert. Our goal is for patrolling and other law enforcement activities to be carried out more thoroughly,” he added further.
