Good news for flyers. The much-awaited direct flight operations from Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) in Bhubaneswar to Dubai will commence on March 5. 

The maiden direct flight will mark the beginning of the international flight operations from the city airport. 

As per sources, IndiGo will operate the flight services between the two cities. 

"Kindly note that we intend to commence operations from Bhubaneswar Airport to Dubai. This will be the First International flight from Bhubaneswar Airport," the IndiGo airline said in a release to its travel partner. 

As per the schedule, the first Bhubaneswar-Dubai flight (6E 0027) will take off from BPIA at 6.05 pm on March 5. The flight will arrive at Dubai airport at 9.45 pm. 

Similarly, Dubai-Bhubaneswar flight (6E 0028) will leave Dubai Airport at 11.25 am on March 5 and reach the BPIA at 5.05 pm.

The day will also mark the birth anniversary of former Chief Minister Biju Patnaik. The iconic Dakota plane of Biju Babu, which was brought to Odisha from Kolkata, will also be put on public display at the airport from March 5.
