CM Naveen Patnaik’s cousin brother applies for old-age pension

As per reports, Dilip has filled up forms for Madhubabu Pension Yojana (MBPY) and Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme (IGNOAPS) to apply for the pension.

Chief minister Naveen Patnaik’s cousin brother Dilip Patnaik has applied for old-age pensions under both the Odisha government and the Centre.

As per reports, Dilip has filled up forms for Madhubabu Pension Yojana (MBPY) and Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme (IGNOAPS) to apply for the pension.

76-year-old Dilip has shown in the form that he has no source of income and the total annual income of his family is less than Rs 12,000. However, he does not possess a BPL card.

Under the MBPY, Rs 500 (60-79 years) and Rs 700 (80 years and above) are paid by the Odisha government to each beneficiary per month. The pension gets disbursed on 15th of every month.

Similarly, under the IGNOAPS, the Centre pays a monthly pension of Rs 200 for up to 79 years and Rs 500 thereafter to each enrolled beneficiary.

Dilip Patnaik is the son of George Patnaik, elder brother of late Biju Patnaik. Dilip was born in 1947 in Cuttack. After completing his studies at Ravenshaw and Utkal Universities, he went on to work for a sponge iron plant. He has been retired for the last 20 years. He is unmarried and lives with his sister Rekha Patnaik.

Dilip was handicapped after meeting with an accident.

Dilip rues that despite being the cousin of the Chief Minister of Odisha, Naveen Patnaik has never done anything for him.
