Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi returned to his ancestral village, Raikala in Keonjhar district, and entered his renovated family home after performing traditional puja rituals. The modest tiled-roof house, which had fallen into disrepair over the years, has now been restored with basic renovations.

This marks the Chief Minister's first homecoming since assuming office, and the occasion drew emotional responses from local villagers. His grandmother was seen seated at the house entrance, while dozens of villagers waited in anticipation to welcome the CM and witness the symbolic ‘griha pravesh’ (housewarming) ceremony.

Far from a lavish mansion, the house reflects the CM's humble roots. Locals shared that Majhi, even during his tenure as an MLA, never prioritized personal gains and consistently focused on solving the problems of his constituents.

“He has always been a people’s leader, someone who connects deeply with our struggles,” said a local resident.

After becoming Chief Minister, Majhi has continued this approach, interacting directly with villagers and listening to their concerns during his visit. His decision to simply repair his old family home, rather than build a grand residence, is being seen as a powerful message of simplicity and public service.

“The way he values the people's problems over personal comfort makes him stand out. Such a Chief Minister is rare in the country,” said another villager.

Chief Minister Majhi’s return to Raikala not only rekindled his roots but also reinforced his image as a grounded and accessible leader.
