Direct buses to Maha Kumbh Mela from 4 Odisha cities
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Sunday morning flagged off direct bus services from four cities of Odisha to the Maha Kumbh Mela in Uttar Pradesh.
Operating under the Odisha State Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC), the buses will provide a seamless connection from Puri, Sambalpur, Bhawanipatna, and Berhampur to the Maha Kumbh Mela, easing travel for devotees from the state.
The first batch of these special buses will begin their journey this morning and are headed to Uttar Pradesh. The current bus service to the Maha Kumbh Mela will stay in place from January 13 to February 26.
In this regard, on January 9, Odisha Commerce and Transport Minister, Bibhuti Jena stated the plans of the state government to launch this bus service.
Additionally, he had also shared plans to continue the pilgrimage service even after the Maha Kumbh Mela, ferrying Odia devotees to prominent pilgrimage centres around the country including Ayodhya, Varanasi, Mathura (Vrindavan), Shree Mahakaleshwar Temple, and Tirupati.
Additionally, the service will include direct routes from Odisha, with one dedicated bus carrying devotees to one pilgrimage location cost-effectively. Moreover, under this new service, women passengers are entitled to a 50 percent discount on bus tickets.
Meanwhile, the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj is set to begin tomorrow and is expected to host over 40 crore devotees from across the globe during its 45-day duration. Moreover, the Mahakumbh Nagar has also undergone several arrangements to ensure proper accommodation of the devotees along with heavy security and surveillance facilities.
