In a shocking incident, a Class IV boy student died after he was allegedly made to do sit-ups by his teacher in Bahadalapur village under Kuakhia police limits in Jajpur district on Tuesday.

The deceased has been identified as Rudra Narayan Sethy who was a student of Sanaorali Nodal UP School.

As per reports, the lady teacher asked Rudra some questions. When Sethy failed to answer those questions, she told him to kneel down. Then she also asked him to do sit-ups.

However, after doing three to four sit-ups, Rudra collapsed. Though he was immediately rushed to the nearby hospital following the incident, he was declared dead by the doctors.

“Madam asked Rudra some questions and when he failed to answer, he was asked to kneel down for a long time. Then he was asked to do sit-ups. After doing sit-ups three-four times, Rudra collapsed. Subsequently, his family members were informed about the development over telephone and he was sent to the hospital,” said Rudra’s classmate.

“I was working in the office when the incident happened. I immediately called Rudra’s father and sent him to the hospital. We got the tragic news of his death in the evening,” said Pramila Panda, headmistress of the school.

Upon being informed about the incident, Rasulpur Additional Block Education Officer (ABEO) Prabhanjana Pati reached the school and started an inquiry into the incident.
