The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has directed Rayagada Superintendent of Police (SP) to conduct an impartial investigation into the alleged rape of a Class 3 student by the school peon in Kashipur block in the last week and give justice to the family members of the victim.

The commission passed the order on the basis of a complaint by Subrat Kumar Dash, state President of Nyay Pain Ladhei Parivar (NPLP).

“This complaint be transmitted to the concerned authority for such action as deemed appropriate. The case is closed,” read the order of NHRC.

Dash had lodged the complaint before the Commission seeking stern action against the accused and a compensation of Rs 50 lakh to the family members of the victim.

Notably, the victim was admitted to the Dangasil Hospital for treatment following the shameful incident. Later, she was shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) as her condition deteriorated.
