A Class 12 girl from Pattamundai College, Odisha, died by suicide after alleged sexual harassment by an exam invigilator. Her mother lodged a police complaint, prompting an investigation.

A Plus 2 girl student of Pattamundai College in Odisha’s Kendrapara district killed self after being allegedly harassed by a lecturer. The serious allegations have been brought by the girl’s mother who accused the exam invigilator of inappropriate conduct at an exam centre, forcing her daughter to die by suicide.

The incident has drawn significant attention and scrutiny. The grieving mother has lodged a formal complaint with the Pattamundai Rural Police.

What Transpired At The College?

As per the complaint, the girl was attending an exam at Pattamundai College on February 19. During the examination, it is alleged that an invigilator took the student into a common room for a 'copy-checking' session where he allegedly sexually assaulted her.

The student struggled with the emotional distress caused by the incident and tragically ended her life on February 24. Seeking justice, the girl’s family spurred an official investigation to ascertain the full circumstances of what transpired at the college.

Meanwhile, the local police have initiated an inquiry, by collecting the CCTV footage from the college as part of their investigation.
