Christmas is a time of great religious significance for Christians around the world because it marks the incarnation of Jesus, who represents God's love and salvation. Christmas has transcended religious observance to become a phenomenon in culture, characterised by happiness, act of giving, and generosity.

While it was celebrated all across the Country with great pomp and show, there was no exception in Odisha as midnight carols and holy masses in decked up churches welcomed Jesus into the earth on Christmas night.

People erupted in festive mood and gathered in thousands at various churches and decked up cathedrals to celebrate the birth of their Lord.

Churches in Bhubaneswar witnessed overwhelmed and enthusiast crowd who added glitters to the Christmas celebrations by singing carols, distributing sweets, cakes and rejoicing in the name of the Lord.

“It is no normal to see the Christmas light and Jesus coming into the world. We just want to be with the people and feel happy by enjoying this weekend. Merry Christmas to all and may Jesus spread love and peace among the people,” wished a church-goer in Bhubaneswar.

Elaborate arrangements for Christmas celebrations have been made across the state by respective district administrations. Similarly, security has also been tightened in different parts of the state including in Kandhamal.

On the other hand, police conducted flag march in Baliguda and Barakhama areas. The flag march was conducted by armed personnel. The police are already patrolling the area. Blocking and checking have also been intensified in the area.
