Chinese sailor missing after falling from Lucky Dragon vessel at Paradip Port, one rescued
A mishap at Paradip Port on Friday left one crew member missing after two sailors of MV Lucky Dragon fell into the sea while the vessel was docked at the Paradip International Cargo Terminal (PICT) berth. Port officials confirmed that both sailors were Chinese nationals. While one was rescued, search operations are underway to trace the missing crew member.
The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), with support from port authorities, has launched rescue efforts. Divers and patrol boats have been pressed into service, while an Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) team from Jagatsinghpur has been dispatched to the site. Officials added that the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) may be called in if required.
Preliminary inputs suggest the sailors may have slipped on a wet surface, though the exact cause is yet to be ascertained. Marine Police and local police personnel also reached the spot to assist in the operation.
