A youth died of severe burn injuries after allegedly setting himself on fire over a suspected family feud at Kesura village under Badagada police station in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday.

The deceased has been identified as Lakhman Pradhan.

As per reports, Pradhan set him on fire using petrol over a family feud and sustained severe burn injuries in the incident.

Subsequently, Pradhan’s family members rushed him to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bhubaneswar immediately. However, doctors declared him brought dead.

The whole incident has been captured on the CCTV camera installed in the nearby area.

In the CCTV footage, the youth was seen arriving in front of a house on a scooter. He immediately parked his vehicle and poured petrol on him before setting himself on fire. 

The youth was seen in the flame and screaming before falling to the ground. People present at the scene were seen completely shocked and running here and there.  

Though the exact reason behind the victim’s extreme step is yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that he might have committed suicide over a family feud.

Upon being informed, Badagada police rushed to the spot and started an investigation into the incident.

As per some neighbours, Pradhan got Rs 32 lakh after selling a piece of land located on the city outskirts. However, he spent all the money with his friends. Subsequently, he had a feud with his wife. Following the incident, Pradhan poured petrol on him and set him ablaze in an inebriated condition. Though some of his close relatives tried their best to save Pradhan, he eventually succumbed to the burn injuries.
