Chief Minister Mohan Majhi
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi launched the CM Kisan Yojana on Sunday, on the occasion of Nuakhai festival.
After launching the yojana at GM University auditorium in Sambalpur, the Chief Minister said, “On the auspicious occasion of Nuakhai, we have launched the CM Kisan Yojana. A total of 46 lakh farmers including landless farmers will be benefited. Under the yojana, Rs 925 crore will be transferred to their accounts through DBT.”
Addressing the farmers, he said “Since from Nuakhai the preparations for Rabi crop begin, you will get the amount today. With the assistance money, you can buy farming equipment, seeds, fertilizers and pesticides well in advance.”
On this occasion, CM Majhi also inaugurated the Krushak Odisha Unified Portal of the Agriculture and Farmers Empowerment Department.
Under CM Kisan Yojana, farmers will receive a financial assistance of Rs 4000. The eligible beneficiaries will get the money in two equal installments before Rabi and Kharif seasons. The state government has allocated a budget of Rs 1935 crore for the yojana.
Meanwhile, politics is heating up over the launching of the CM-Kisan Yojana with BJD and BJP engaging in a slugfest.
“The yojana we launched in our time will be the same even if its name has been changed. The government should continue with our pro-people yojanas. Nothing will change if their names are changed,” said BJD leader Sambit Routray.
Reacting to Routray’s statement, senior BJP leader Jayanarayan Mishra said, “They had said they would give money under KALIA Yojana. How many times the money was disbursed? They disbursed the money for once before the election and then forgot it. We will give the money continuously at the time of Nuakhai and Akshaya Tritiya."
Notably, during the previous BJD government, farmers were receiving this financial assistance under the KALIA Yojana.
