In a unique act of devotion towards Lord Jagannath, a devotee from Chhattisgarh along with his pet dog has embarked on a homeward journey on foot after witnessing the recently-concluded Snana Yatra of the sibling deities in Puri.

The devotee has been identified as Subasish Pradhani from the neighbouring state.

As per reports, Subasish and his pet dog named Princy had come to Puri to have darshan of Lord Jagannath and his siblings Lord Balabhadra and Goddess Subhadra after the fulfillment of his wish with the Lord’s blessings. They came by train. However, after taking part in the famous festival, they decided to return home by walking to show their gratitude and in an act of devotion towards the Lord.

Subasish has been walking on his way back home for over 10 days now. Moreover, to the utter surprise of many, Princy is also walking with him.

As per sources, Subhasis got Princy last year. Since then both have developed an intimate friendship. The dog has been following his master wherever he goes. In view of the prevailing scorching heat, Subhasis walks only in the morning and evening hours. He takes shelter at suitable places during the rest part of the day. Princy is also accompanying him all the time.

Subhasis is taking good care of his friend Princy during his novel journey. Both are staying together at the same place during the time of rest. They are also bathing in the same ponds and canals during the journey. Moreover, Subhasis is providing good food to his friend. He is taking good care of his pet by providing it treatment by veterinary doctors at regular intervals.

As per popular belief, it is not possible to get darshan of Lord Jagannath without his wish. Subhasis’ devotion towards the lord and its unique expression has influenced several devotees in the State. Moreover, he has also earned praise from several animal lovers in the State for his deep love for his pet dog.
