Chandrayaan-3: All you need to know about Odisha’s major role in moon mission

Most of the major components of Chandrayaan-3 have been manufactured at the Bhubaneswar-based Central Tool Room & Training Centre (CTTC).

Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is all set to launch its third lunar exploration mission Chandrayaan-3 from Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh tomorrow and the whole country is excited about the mission. The mission will make India the fourth country to land its spacecraft on the surface of the moon and demonstrate the country’s abilities for a safe and soft landing on the Lunar surface.

Well, it will be a matter of joy and great pride for the people of Odisha as the State has played a major role in India’s third moon mission.

As per reports, most of the major components of Chandrayaan-3 have been manufactured at the Bhubaneswar-based Central Tool Room & Training Centre (CTTC) at a cost of Rs 12 crore.

Valves, internal navigation systems, temperature sensors, aerospace, gyroscope, RGPD components and many other components have been manufactured at the CTTC in the Capital City. More than 150 technicians of the training center have reportedly toiled hard for the last two years to manufacture the important components for Chandrayaan-3.

“A number of critical components have been manufactured at CTTC for Chandrayaan-3. As of today, we have supplied more than 17,000 components to ISRO. Tomorrow will be a big day for CTTC Bhubaneswar and we are eagerly waiting for the success of Chandrayaan-3,” said CTTC General Manager L Rajasekhar.

CTTC is also reportedly manufacturing important components for Gaganyaan which will be launched at the end of 2023 or in 2024.

CTTC Bhubaneswar has been working in coordination with ISRO for more than 23 years now.
