Caught on Cam: Out on morning walk, elderly woman loses gold necklace to robbers in Bhubaneswar

A day after 500 grams of gold ornaments were looted from a flat of a scientist in Chandaka area, two chain snatchers decamped with a gold chain of an elderly woman at Kalinga Vihar area in Bhubaneswar.

The two chain snatchers on a motorbike snatched the woman’s chain and sped away while she was walking towards her house. The whole act caught on a CCTV camera installed outside a house has spread panic among the residents in the state capital.

Despite all the security measures by the Commissionerate Police, petty crimes including chain snatching and burglaries are on the rise in the Smart city. 

The CCTV footage shows the elderly woman walking towards her house after a morning walk. Meanwhile, the bikers, believed to be following, snatch her gold chain and speed away on their Pulsar bike.

Interestingly, the looters are not even wearing masks and helmets, throwing an open challenge to the Commissionerate Police during this festive season. Kalinga Vihar police have registered a suo moto case and launched a manhunt to nab the chain snatchers.
