A day after Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Mahua Moitra was expelled from the Parliament after she was found guilty by the Lok Sabha Ethics Committee in connection with the cash-for-query case, the Odisha unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) took a dig at the ruling Biju Janata Dal(BJD), raising an accusing finger at a ruling party leader for his alleged link with the expelled lawmaker.

The saffron party has demanded clarification from Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik about BJD MP Pinaki Misra's complicity with the cash-for-query imbroglio.

It may be recalled here that BJP MP Nishikant Dubey first accused the TMC MP of sharing her credentials with businessman Darshan Hiranandani and accepting gifts from him to raise questions against the Adani Group in the Lok Sabha.

Addressing a presser here in Bhubaneswar on Saturday, BJP leader Lekhashree Samantsighar sought to know on whose aid and abetment Mohua Moitra dared to commit such an ‘unethical conduct’ as pointed out by the Lok Sabha Ethics Committee.

The BJP leader further alleged, “The TMC MP has sold her rights to raise questions in the Parliament to others. Congress leaders like Rahul Gandhi, Shashi Tharoor, and BJD MP Pinaki Misra are complicit in her illegal activities. There is a need for a thorough investigation about the money trail and how these three leaders are involved in the unethical conduct.”

She further added that the TMC MP had shared her login id with businessman Darshan Hiranandani, but who received pecuniary benefits from it needs to be brought under investigation.

What is the role of BJD MP Pinaki Misra in this shady deal and the MP should make it clear, she demanded, adding that Misra should clarify if he is involved with any financial transactions in the case.

“Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik who has been bragging and beating drums about his own teflon-clean image for the last 24 years in Odisha should come with a clarification on how his party’s MP is involved in such unethical activities," she added.
