By-election date for vacant Panchayat Samiti chairman, vice-chairman posts in Odisha announced

The State Election Commission (SEC) on Monday announced the date for the conduct of by-election for vacant chairman and vice-chairman posts in several Panchayat Samitis in Odisha.

As per the notification issued by the SEC, the by-poll for the vacant posts will be held on 22 August 2024 between 12.30 pm to 2 pm.

As many as six chairman and one vice-chairman posts are lying vacant in the State. While in Ganjam the chairman posts in Kabisuryanagar, Khalllikote and Kukudahandi are lying vacant, casual vacancies for the same posts have occurred at Narla in Kalahandi, Raighar in Nabarangpur and Bhapur in Nayagarh.

Similarly, the vice chairman post at Harabhanga panchayata samiti in Boudh is also lying vacant.

By-election Schedule

• Issue of formal notification by Election Officer:  14.08.2024

• Issue of nomination forms and presentation thereof: 22.08.2024 between 10 am to 11 am

• Scrutiny of nomination papers: 22.08.2024 between 11 am to 11.30 am

• Withdrawal of candidature: 22.08.2024 before 12 noon

• Voting, if necessary: 22.08.2024 between 12.30 pm to 2 pm

• Counting of votes and declaration of results: 22.08.2024 (after poll is over)

• Publication of name of duly elected chairman/vice-chairman by Election Officer:  23.08.2024

• Submission of result to State Election Commission: 23.08.2024
