Will the private buses in Odisha go off roads from October 10? Well, the private bus owners’ association on Monday announced that a final decision in this regard will be announced after the steering committee meeting. A high-level meeting was held between the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) and the private bus owners’ association officials today.

Association General Secretary, Debendra Sahoo informed that the discussion with the Odisha government was fruitful as they have admitted that the demands are justified. Sahoo further stated that the association is seeking a written assurance from the state government that their demands will be fulfilled. As of now, their agitation stands, he added.

On Sunday, the All Odisha Bus Owners’ Association had called for an indefinite strike across the state from October 10 over various demands. The bus owners had earlier opposed the Odisha government’s decision to launch affordable transportation for people across the state under the location-accessible multimodal initiative (LAccMI).

The association members have earlier said to have given a proposal to the state government to allow their buses to operate in rural pockets under the new initiative.
