Bus crashes near railway tracks in Sambalpur; passengers safe, train services hit

Train services were affected after a passenger bus crashed near the railway tracks at Laxmi Dunguri area in Sambalpur on Saturday. Sources said that the bus halted very close to the railway tracks after it hit the barricade as its driver lost control of the steering wheel. No passenger was hurt in the accident.

A major tragedy was averted as no train was moving on the track when the bus met with the accident. The movement of some trains on the route was affected following the bus accident.

"We came to know about the incident at 6 am. A person informed our staff and we rushed to the spot and halted a good trains. The bus passengers had already left the spot when we reached here," said a railway official.

Meanwhile, efforts have begun to remove the bus from near the tracks with the help of crane. The movement of trains will be restored at the earliest, informed the railway official.

Sources said that the railway track and the national highway run parallel near Laxmi dunguri area.
