A team of Border Security Force (BSF) jawans recovered five gelatine sticks while conducting a combing operation in the forest near Kamarguda village under Materu Panchayat in Malkangiri district.

According to reports, BSF 142 battalion jawans posted at Padia were conducting the combing operation in Kamarguda jungle, some 2.5 kms away from Parsanpalli Link Road. With the help of a metal detector, they stumbled upon the bombs buried near a tree.

The jawans immediately took safety measures, cordoned off the area, and informed the bomb disposal unit stationed at Malkangiri.

On being informed, a bomb disposal squad reached the spot and defused the gelatine sticks.

It is worth mentioning that jawans of the Border Security Force (BSF) defused an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) during a combing operation in Taksipadar forest under Kandhamal’s Phiringia police limits on September 1.

The dog squad of the security forces found the IED during a combing operation in the jungle. The IED was assembled using a 2-litre steel tiffin box, 50 gm gelatin sticks, a six-volt battery, adhesive tapes, and 20 metres of flexible wire, official sources said.
