BSF foils Maoist attack bid in Odisha's Malkangiri
An attempt by Maoists to target security personnel was foiled in Odisha's Malkangiri district on Friday, preventing a potentially devastating attack.
Border Security Force (BSF) personnel, while conducting a routine combing operation in the Bejangiwada forest, found the bomb and successfully neutralized the explosive.
The alert jawans detected the tiffin bomb, suspected to have been planted by Maoists to target security forces during the operation, hidden near the base of a tree.
Soon, a bomb disposal squad was rushed to the spot, safely removed the landmine, and defused it.
Following the recovery of the explosives, security forces have now intensified search operations in the area.
Notably, last month, BSF jawans unearthed a Maoist dump in the same area, seizing a large quantity of explosives hidden in rock cavities inside caves near Dayaltungi village, under Kalimela police limits. Three tiffin bombs, gelatine sticks, and other Maoist articles were recovered from the dump.
