In a major breakthrough, police arrested a drug dealer in the Jaleswar area of Balasore on Wednesday. Brown sugar worth Rs 30 lakh was seized from the accused.
As per reports, police got a tip-off that a youth of Jhadeswarpur was smuggling the banned substance from West Bengal to Jaleswar.
Police raided and seized 300 gms of brown sugar, two cell phones, a bike, and cash worth Rs 6,000 from the youth.
Police have started an investigation to ascertain if any other people are involved in the illegal trade.

Speaking to the media, Balasore SP, Sagarika Nath said that Jaleswar Police got information about a youth smuggling drugs from West Bengal at 8 PM on Tuesday. During the raid, the youth was arrested along with 300 gms of brown sugar whose market value is Rs 6 lakh, she said.
“We are investigating if he has links with previous drug seizures or other rackets busted earlier. A detailed investigation is underway,” the SP added.
