Bride escapes with ‘lover’ soon after 'pheras'; groom lodges police complaint

You might have come across several instances of a girl running away from home to escape marriage. However, the incident of a bride escaping with her ‘lover’ soon after her 'pheras' has now become the talk of the town in Bolangir.

As per reports, the bride had tied the nuptial knot with one Prem Kumar on Thursday. All the rituals including 'Jaimala' and 'pheras' were conducted as per rituals. However, panic gripped the area soon after it was found that the bride was missing. After lot of search, the CCTV footage was examined and it was found that the bride has escaped right from the doorstep of her house on a motorcycle.

It is suspected that the bride escaped from the spot with her lover. The entire incident of the bride escaping on the bike has been captured in the CCTV footage.

According to Prem Kumar of Mukundapur of Deogaon block, his marriage was fixed with the girl some six to seven months back.

“Yesterday, we had come to the marriage venue along with our family members and other 'baraatis.' We had just finished our food when we found that the bride has escaped,” said Kumar.

According to Kumar, he always used to talk with his wife-to-be over phone and she appeared quite normal.

“She has escaped with all the gold ornaments that she was wearing. I demand action against her and compensation from the girl’s family for the harassment and trauma caused. I have lodged the complaint so that the she doesn’t create any scene afterwards,” Kumar added.
