A father’s selfless decision turned personal tragedy into hope for others, as he decided to donate the organs of his young son to save multiple lives. The incident took place in Bissamcuttack in the Rayagada district.

According to reports, Chandrasekhar Nayak, a resident of Dukum village, was employed as an outsourcing staff member at the Muniguda Community Health Center. On Holi, while returning home from a medical visit, he met with a fatal accident after crashing into a tree.

He was immediately rushed to a hospital in Srikakulam in Andhra Pradesh, where doctors declared him brain-dead.

A Father’s Difficult Yet Heroic Decision:

Overwhelmed with grief but determined to keep his son’s memory alive, Chandrasekhar’s father made the noble decision to donate his organs. This extraordinary act ensured that his loss would bring hope to others in dire need of organ transplants.

“My son was a kind, beloved boy. Everyone in the village knew and praised him. Following his passing, I wanted to make his legacy immortal, for which I have donated his organs in hopes that his soul would find peace,” said the deceased’s father.

Following the family’s consent, Nayak’s kidneys, lungs, liver, and heart were retrieved. These vital organs were transported via a green corridor and airlifted to hospitals in Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam. Ultimately, five critically ill patients received a new lease on life through these transplants.
