Bolangir school headmistress suspended for ‘thrashing’ Class 2 student
The Bolangir Education Department has suspended Hemanjali Hota, the headmistress of Tikrapada UP School in Saithala block, following allegations of physically assaulting a young student.
According to sources, the incident occurred on July 31, when Hota allegedly beat a Class 2 student severely.
The student’s father lodged a formal complaint with the local police station and also approached the district administration regarding the matter.
The complaint stated that the child suffered injuries due to the headmistress’s actions.

Following an initial investigation into the incident, the district education authorities decided to suspend Hota from her duties, pending a detailed inquiry.
The move is aimed at ensuring that the investigation proceeds fairly while also sending a strong message against corporal punishment in schools.
As of now, neither the Education Department nor the suspended headmistress has provided any official statement over the allegations.
Meanwhile, the incident has sparked concerns among parents in the area, who are demanding stricter action to prevent such cases in the future.
