The body of a man was found hanging from the ceiling fan in a house in Laxmisagar area of Bhubaneswar on Tuesday.

The deceased has been identified as Dhananjay Pande, who was working as the driver of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, Pradeep Purohit.

As per reports, Purohit called up the police after finding the door of his room at Bhagwan Tower in Laxmisagar locked from inside for a long time.

Speaking about the incident, Purohit said, “I had called my driver early in the morning from Delhi. I wanted the car at the airport after I reached Bhubaneswar. But he never answered my calls.”

“After reaching Bhubaneswar, I went to him and saw his room locked from inside. Doubt crept into my mind as he was never a man to sleep till noon. I called up the police and they discovered him hanging from the fan in his room,” Purohit added.

The police have contacted the family of Pande and launched a probe in this connection.

Asked about the case, Bhubaneswar DCP, Prateek Singh said, “We have just received the information about this. A police team from Laxmisagar Police Station is probing the case. We currently do not have any details pertaining to the case. We have informed the family of the deceased.”
