In an unfortunate incident, a body was carried on a trolley from Sheikh Bazar area in Cuttack to Satichaura for cremation on Wednesday.

As per reports, the body remained abandoned in the area even two days after the death. Though it started to decompose, the administration allegedly didn’t pay any heed to cremate the body. At last, some voluntary organisations stepped in and carried the body on a trolley to Satichaura for cremation.

The deceased has been identified as Simanchala Behera who was a resident of Sheikh Bazar area.

As per reports, Simanchala was ill for a long time. Eventually, he passed away on Sunday. However, there was nobody in Simanchal’s family except his sister to cremate the body. Though the girl tried to contact their relatives and neighbours, nobody came forward to extend a helping hand. At last, she contacted some voluntary organisations seeking help.

Though the voluntary workers called the Mahaparayan vehicle several times, they alleged that nobody received the calls. They even went near the vehicle, but didn’t find the driver nearby. Finally, they were forced to carry the body on a trolley to Satichaura for cremation.

After the unfortunate incident, a question mark has been raised over the district administration. However, no comment could be obtained from the administration.

The sister of the deceased has been crestfallen over the incident.

“Let nobody suffer like my brother and me. Let nobody be carried on a trolley for cremation,” said the deceased’s sister.
