The enforcement squad of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) razed the illegal construction of notorious 'bouncer gang' leader Raghav Jena built over government land in Jharpada area on Wednesday.

According to sources, the enforcement squad with the help of the Commissionerate Police demolished as many as 30 houses of Raghav who is the prime accused in the shop vandalism incident in Nayapalli area in the capital city.

While the police intimated about the eviction last evening, the BMC carried out the demolition drive in the morning today, sources informed.

Raghav had encroached upon government land in the capital city and rented out houses built over the illegally occupied land to earn money.

“He (Raghav) has encroached over one acre of government land. We have razed 30-40 houses so far. He had rented the houses built over the government land for residential and business purposes,” said a BMC official.

It is worthwhile to mention here that the Commissionerate Police had busted the notorious ‘bouncer gang’ which was allegedly involved in taking forceful possession of disputed land in the capital city.

Seven members of the gang were arrested for ransacking two shops of Subas Aggrawal and Pradeep Samal in Nayapalli.
