BEO wades through drain water
Guardians of students in Odisha forced a Block Education Officer to wade through drain water that flooded the school premises. This incident happened earlier today in Altuma village under Kamakhyanagar NAC in the Dhenkanal district of Odisha.
Enraged by classrooms flooded with drain water; students and guardians locked up the gates of Dadhibaman Upper Primary School and compelled Saroj Kumar Swain, the Block Education Officer, to walk through the waterlogged school premises while demanding a permanent solution to the problem.
According to sources, the guardians were furious over students having to walk through knee-deep water to reach their classrooms. Even the school’s utensils were found floating in the drain water which infuriated the locals even more. As per allegations, the locals had repeatedly contacted and requested the district administration to address this issue. This has been a longstanding problem in this school, and in order to avoid the same from happening again, the guardians demanded a solution prior to the onset of the monsoon. However, no steps were taken by the administration, they alleged.
Meanwhile, the Sub-Collector assured that arrangements will be made to drain the wastewater from the school premises and the issue will be resolved permanently.
