BJP National Vice-President Baijayant Panda visited Katapali village under Bargarh district on Tuesday to take part in the ‘Ekadashaha’ ritual of his grandmother Sushila Devi.

When Baijayant’s chopper landed at the village, the villagers wholeheartedly welcomed the senior BJP leader. They garlanded him, sprinkled flowers at him and presented 'angavastrams'. The locals showered love, respect and affection on Baijayant and took him to his grandfather’s house.

Baijayant paid floral tributes to the photograph of his grandmother Sushila Devi and took part in her ‘Ekadashaha’ ritual. He also joined a condolence meeting and reminisced his relationship with his grandmother, grandfather, uncles, cousins and other villagers.

On being asked by the media if his visit was politically motivated, the BJP VP clarified that there was no political motive behind his visit.

“Katapali village is my grandfather’s village. I have so many childhood memories here. I have come here only to take part in the ‘Ekadasaha’ ritual of my grandmother. I met my cousins and other villagers. My childhood memory got refreshed,” Baijayant said.

“This visit holds no political motive. I came here only to participate in a social programme. I get a lot of love and affection in Western Odisha and feel it as my home,” he signed off.
