The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday targeted the Biju Janata Dal (BJD)-ruled Odisha government over the alleged question paper leaks in the ongoing Matric examination.

Taking to X, BJP spokesperson Anil Biswal wrote, “The manner in which the Matriculation question paper leaks are happening frequently this year is very worrying. It is surprising how the question paper is going into the hands of brokers before the exam every day. What is even more surprising is the lackadaisical reply of the Board President conducting the examination and, on the contrary, putting the blame on the media.”

Notably, the question papers of Mathematics and English examinations allegedly went viral on social media even before the students entered the exam hall on Saturday and Monday raising serious questions about the conduct of the examination.

More importantly, some students who came out of the exam hall following the Maths exam claimed that the viral ones were exactly the same questions that they answered in the exam hall.

However, when asked about it, the president of the BSE denied the leaks and blamed the media, particularly OTV while accusing it of deliberately maligning the State government’s image. The Board did not even hesitate to term the students who confirmed the leak as planted by OTV attracting widespread criticisms from all quarters.

Biswal further tweeted, “OTV as a responsible media, has properly aired such corruption and sale of question papers. The president of the Board of Secondary Education has blamed the media. His denial to the "proved allegations" shows that he is probably with or protecting the brokers leaking the question paper.”

Biswal demanded the state government to immediately suspend the BSE president Shrikant Tarai and give the responsibility of conducting the next examination to a new officer. Otherwise, the government will be deemed to be playing games with lakhs of meritorious children, Biswal said.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) activists staged a massive demonstration in Bhubaneswar on Sunday accusing the Odisha government of being insensitive while managing the ongoing Matriculation examination in the state.

The protestors staged a demonstration and marched towards the official residence of Odisha School and Mass Education Minister Sudam Marndi and tried to stage a gherao. They raised slogans against the Minister and showed black flags.
