BJP slammed the Odisha government alleging that it is spinning a conspiracy to privatize technical education.

BJP MLA and Opposition party chief whip, Mohan Majhi on Thursday alleged that the State government is indulging in corruption and conspiring entry of south-Indian contractors into the technical educational institutions across the State.

“Odisha government is conspiring to privatise Keonjhar Government College of Engineering, CIC Bhubaneswar, and the Indira Gandhi Institute of Technology in Sarang. The government is indulged in corruption in the name of development of technical educational institutions by conspiring to allow entry of south Indian contractors,” alleged Majhi in a presser.

“The State government should refrain from privatizing technical educational institutions in Odisha. Otherwise, BJP will hit the streets,” he added.

However, the ruling BJD refuted the allegations of the Opposition BJP.

“When the government is not able to undertake developmental activities in some technical educational institutions, the responsibility is being given to some private bodies that have experience and expertise. There is nothing new in it. It is happening in the whole country. The aim is to provide high-quality education,” said ruling BJD leader Amar Satpathy.
