The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will definitely form the government in Odisha this time. BJP’s election in-charge for Odisha Vijaypal Singh Tomar who arrived in Bhubaneswar on Sunday said this while tallking to reporters at Biju Patnaik International Airport, Bhubaneswar.

The senior BJP leader predictably claimed that Odisha is going to have a double-engine government as over 80 nominees of the party will be elected as MLAs in the Assembly constituencies in the upcoming elections and over 16 out of the total 21 Lok Sabha seats will come to the party’s kitty.

As for the reported BJP-BJD bonhomie, Tomar said that the Biju Janata Dal has definitely given the party support in the Parliament several times, but that does not mean the BJP and BJD are friends.

He cited, “Former Telangana Chief Minister Chandrashekhar Rao had supported the BJP on several issues and other leaders are supporting us on the basis of issues. Some other leaders are not supporting us.”

Tomar made it clear that the BJP will put up a strong fight against the BJD to register resounding victory.

Party’s co-in-charge Lata Usendi who came to Odisha for the first time after assuming the charge for election in Odisha, said, “I came to the land of Lord Jagannath. I am happy and my pranam to Lord Jagannath!  The land of Lord Jagannath is going to be the land of the BJP. Women are with the BJP. Confidence among women is high. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a lot of work is being done by the NDA government for women's welfare. In the days to come, women will hand out victory to the BJP in Odisha. The BJP will form the government here.”

Tomar will hold one-to-one meetings with top leaders of the party at the office on Sunday followed by a threadbare discussion with the party functionaries about the strategies for the elections on Monday.

However, no reaction from the Biju Janata Dal(BJD) has been received.
