The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National Vice-President, Baijayant Panda has written a letter to the Indian Ambassador in Gabon (Central Africa) requesting diplomatic intervention to bring back four Odia youths stranded in the African nation.

Vidyadhar Pradhan, Shubhakanta Pradhan, Prashant Kumar Rout, and Niranjan Mohanty from Ghadiamal village under Rajnagar Police Station of Kendrapara district are reportedly stranded in Gabon.

As per reports, they went to Gabon on February 14 this year for a job through an agent. They were reportedly promised a monthly salary of Rs. 25,000 by the agent. But they were allegedly put to work for more than 3 months without payment of any remuneration.

Apart from that they were reportedly subjected to harassment when they demanded salary. Even after many requests, the employers in Gabon neither paid their wages nor allowed them to return home, the victims alleged.

Unable to bear the harassment meted out, desperate family members then sought Baijayant Panda's help to bring the youths back home. Baijayant Panda contacted the Embassy in Gabon and apprised the Ambassador of the matter. He appealed to the Ambassador to take steps in this direction and bring everyone back to India safely.
