Plus 2 student dies, 2 missing while taking bath in Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur; search operation underway
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday gheraoed the Block office at Kendrapara alleging massive irregularities in identifying beneficiaries under the PMAY scheme.
The BJP alleged that the list of PMAY beneficiaries published at the block office has many names that are ineligible, while depriving the eligible beneficiaries.
The protesters demanded quashing of the current list and preparation of a fresh list with all the eligible beneficiaries in the area.
BJP leader, Sunakar Behera said, “The administration has included all the ineligible beneficiaries from the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) who have pucca houses and land.”
“We demand removal of such names from the list and inclusion of people living in kutcha houses, otherwise we will intensify our agitation,” Behera warned.
The saffron party has been cornering the Odisha government over alleged irregularities in the PMAY beneficiary list.
