As per reports, more than 50 BJP workers were staging a protest at Punjikaya square against Pandian’s visit by showing black flags and raising slogans.

During the peaceful demonstration, some BJD workers reached the spot and tried to prevent the saffron party workers from staging the protest.

Subsequently, a scuffle broke out between the workers of both parties for nearly 30 minutes in the presence of police. Some protestors have been injured in the clash.

Police had to resort to mild lathi-charge to control the situation. As many as 15 BJP workers have been detained.

“We were staging a protest against Pandian’s visit to Digapahandi in a democratic way. However, some hooligans of BJD attacked us. However, police are supporting BJD workers,” alleged BJP activist.

Moreover, BJP workers also staged a protest ahead of Pandian’s Sanakhemundi visit in the district.

Several saffron party workers wore black dresses and shouted slogans against the Odisha government and Pandian in protest against his visit to the area.
