Internal rift in BJD deepens as Amaresh Jena supporters gherao Sanjay Das Burma’s residence in Bhubaneswar
Internal unrest within the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) appears to be escalating, as a group of supporters of Corporator Amresh Jena staged a protest outside the residence of senior party leader Sanjay Das Burma late on Monday night.
According to sources, over a hundred supporters of Jena gathered outside Das Burma’s house in Kharavel Nagar, raising slogans and strong objections.
The protest was reportedly sparked by the exclusion of Jena’s name from the newly announced list of State Council members. Agitated supporters openly alleged that Sanjay Das Burma was behind such a move.
Speaking to OTV, Jena said, "The party is not being run in the right manner. Those who are sincerely working are being ignored. Responsibility has been given to only four or five people, and they are not impartial. What they say is being implemented without question."
Highlighting post-election issues, Jena said, "After the defeat, they (some senior BJD leaders) are trying to dominate in every district. A government that served for 24 years and turned everything it touched into gold is now being ruined by a conspiracy.”
Jena went on to claim, "The party is currently in the hands of conspirators. Those who were close to Pyari Babu are now close to Naveen Patnaik too."
Expressing concern for the party’s future, he added, "I fear these very people will surely drown the party. Even after the loss, they haven’t woken up and still believe they are ministers."
While the protest created a tense atmosphere, no official statement has yet been issued by either Sanjay Das Burma or the BJD leadership regarding the incident.
