BJD to oppose no-confidence motion brought by Opposition; issues 3-line whip to its MPs

The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Tuesday announced that it will oppose the no-confidence motion proposed by various opposition parties against the BJP-led government, informed party's Rajya Sabha member Sasmit Patra.

Patra further informed that the BJD will also support the passing of the Delhi services ordinance. “BJD has decided to support the passing of the Delhi bill and we will be opposing the no-confidence motion brought by the opposition parties,” Patra told ANI.

Patra said that the BJD has also issued a three-line whip to both Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha MPs to be present in the house and do the needful.

The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has nine MPs in Rajya Sabha. The Lok Sabha will take up the no-confidence motion discussion against the Narendra Modi-led government between August 8 and August 10.

The 26-party opposition alliance had moved a notice of no-confidence on July 26 in Lok Sabha demanding a statement from PM Modi on the Manipur situation in the House.
