BJD to hold cycle rally, blood donation camp to mark 27th foundation day today

The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) turned 27 today. To mark its 27th foundation day, the party will arrange a cycle rally, marathon race, public meetings, plantation drive and blood donation camp on Tuesday.

Party supremo Naveen Patnaik has directed to celebrate the foundation day in all the Assembly Constituencies of Odisha where BJD leaders and workers will take oath to create ‘Naveen Odisha’.

As per reports, a cycle rally will start from Naveen Patnaik’s birth place at Anand Bhawan in Cuttack and continue till Biju Patnaik’s statue near the airport in Bhubaneswar.

The foundation day assumes significance for the regional party which is eyeing to come to power for the sixth consecutive time under the leadership of Naveen Patnaik.

The Biju Janata Dal was founded on December 26, 1997. It was named after legendary leader Biju Patnaik who is the father of the current Chief Minister of Odisha, Naveen Patnaik. The BJD first formed the government in alliance with the BJP in the state and it continued till 2009.
