Former BJD MLA Sushant Behera
Former BJD MLA of Chhendipada Sushant Behera on Friday didn’t mince his words while ascribing the party’s drubbing in the general elections 2024 to BJD chief Naveen Patnaik.
“Our party president might have slightly neglected the party for which the party suffered the debacle in the general elections 2024,” said Behera.
Listing out the reasons that proved fatal for his party, Behera said, “In the run-up to the elections, he (Naveen Patnaik) should have attended the meetings. Instead, he sent his representative to every meeting. Because of this, some workers and people were displeased.”

“I feel this displeasure among party workers and leaders is one of the main reasons that proved catastrophic for the party,” he said, adding, “If the party suffered the debacle, it is only because of flaws in the management.”
Behera is the latest in finding faults for BJD losing the polls to BJP.
Earlier, senior leader Debi Prasad Mishra, Amar Satpathy, Prasanna Patsani, Amaresh Jena, former Paradip MLA Sambit Routray, Choudwar-Cuttack MLA Pravat Biswal and Nrusingha Sahu had already cited one or the other reasons for the party’s flop show.
