In a press briefing held just a day before PM Modi’s arrival in Bhubaneswar, BJD leader and Opposition Chief Whip Pramila Mallick launched a scathing attack on the BJP, urging the Prime Minister to review the allegedly ‘deteriorating law and order situation’ in the State during his visit.

Mallick highlighted disturbing incidents reported from Gopalpur and Keonjhar, criticising the Odisha government for being preoccupied with celebrations while public safety concerns mount. “Since the Prime Minister is coming to Odisha, he should have reviewed the law and order situation in the State. Instead of addressing this serious issue, the State government seems to be in the mood to rejoice. We hope the Prime Minister will offer the government appropriate advice,” BJD’s Pramila Mallick said in the presser.

People of Odisha have already seen our stance: Manmohan

In response, BJP state president Manmohan Samal dismissed the BJD’s accusations, labelling them as attempts to overshadow a year of progress. “People of Odisha have already seen our stance over the last year. Unable to tolerate the consistent development under our (BJP’s) leadership, the BJD is becoming increasingly intolerant,” Manmohan Samal retorted.

Samal also stressed that crime knows no boundaries of caste, creed, or religion, and assured that strict and exemplary actions will be taken against whoever is found guilty in every case, irrespective of the accused’s political considerations or personal clout.

As Odisha braces for the Prime Minister’s visit, political discourse continues to intensify, highlighting deep divisions ahead of the forthcoming event at Janata Maidan.
