Lenin Mohanty and Prithiviraj Harichandan in separate pressers
BJP-led government in Odisha has been following the footsteps of the previous government, launching a scathing attack BJD spokesperson Lenin Mohanty said on Sunday.
“Most of this government’s decisions, which are now being taken, were already taken by the previous government. The dates of their implementation were also announced. Just by making fresh announcements, the Government is trying to earn accolades in its favour. Hence, the present government is not doing anything new,” the BJD spokesperson alleged.

“Ten-day extra casual leave was accorded to mothers and sisters of Odisha for their monthly menstrual cycle. This decision was taken on March 12, 2024, by the previous BJD government. A notification in this regard has already been issued and the new norm has been implemented. Everything is complete as of now,” the BJD leader said in a presser.
“On the same date, it was also announced that Padma awardees of the State will be given an assistance of Rs 25,000 each,” Lenin Mohanty further said.
Two tribal women died in Mandipanka village of Kandhamal district after consuming mango kernel gruel, recently, as PDS rice was not distributed to them. The present government has failed to resolve the potato crisis, the BJD spokesperson added.
Civil Supplies Minister must be immediately dismissed, Lenin Mohanty demanded.
Reacting to this, the Civil Supplies Minister Krushna Chandra Patra expressed, “All missions failed during their (BJD) rule. At least 20 persons died in Kashipur block in 2016. Whose government was ruling at that time? However, no one had resigned then.”
Echoing a similar view, Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan said mediapersons, “We do not know if announcements were made. They (BJD) were announcing many things. All that I want to say is, the things which they forgot during the past 24-year rule, they remembered those in the last four months after they were thrown out of power. Memory was feeble at that time and has become fresh now. They should preserve their memory power.”
