BJD members creating ruckus
The infighting in the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) is simmering even as the party is bracing up for the forthcoming general election. As a testimony to it, the internal tussle in the party’s Puri district unit was out in the open when two factions of the party confronted each other.
According to a source, under the chairmanship of state vice president of the BJD’s youth wing Subhashish Khuntia, a meeting of Puri town’s ward no-21 was held at a city hotel on Thursday. The supporters of district BJD president Maheswar Mohanty created a ruckus in the meeting while opposing the participation of the party workers of ward no-1.
They also objected to convening the meeting without inviting district president Mohanty.
The situation came to such a pass that members of both sides engaged in a verbal duel and tussle, turning the meeting hall into a battlefield.
At the same time, some members opposed others’ sloganeering of ‘Pandian Zindabad’ instead of ‘Naveen Patnaik Zindabad’.
In this regard, no reactions from the BJD could be obtained.
