‘Binjharpur MLA behind attack on woman RTI activist’; BJP launches veiled attack on BJD legislature
BJP leader Babita Mallick on Saturday launched a veiled attack on BJD MLA from Binjharpur, Pramila Mallik accusing the latter of attacking an RTI activist by engaging goons.
Launching a scathing attack on the seven-time MLA without naming her, the saffron party leader alleged that the lawmaker is behind the assault on the RTI activist.
The Dasarathapur Police has arrested two persons- Babu Panigrahi and Maheswara Sethi in connection with the case.
“It is very unfortunate to see the seven-time MLA, who is also a woman, acting in such a way. I deeply condemn the act. I met the SDPO and discussed the matter. I will speak to my top authorities to take necessary action,” BJP leader Babita Mallick said.
“Though many people were present, the woman was subjected to inhuman torture and was trashed in public. Surprisingly no one opposed such a heinous act,” Mallick added.
While Pramila Mallik refused to comment anything on the matter, Opposition BJD claimed that the allegations levelled against its party leader are baseless.
“BJD has always condemned violence against women. We don’t know who and why such allegations are levelled. The two accused have already been arrested and they are not our party workers. Law will take its own course,” BJD spokesperson, Lenin Mohanty said.
As per the allegations, Ashok Pati and his wife sought some information through RTI. Later, the husband-wife duo was assaulted in a kangaroo court at Rahasoi village in Jajpur. The entire incident was filmed and made viral on various social media platforms.
