BJD MLA Prafulla Samal deposes before ED in engg college land case

Former Odisha Minister and senior Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MLA Prafulla Samal on Wednesday deposed before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials in Bhubaneswar.

The senior BJD leader is now under the radar over alleged financial irregularities at Barapada Engineering College in Bhadrak. A team of ED officials is likely to quiz Samal regarding the allegations of financial mismanagement and irregularities.

It was earlier alleged that Samal and his son Prayaskanti were involved in a multi-crore scam involving Barapada Engineering College where the father-son duo allegedly swindled crores of rupees collected from students as fees and bought lands and flats in Bhubaneswar.

On February 15, the officials of the Enforcement Directorate had raided multiple places linked to Samal including six places in Bhadrak town and four places in Bhubaneswar.
